Palm Desert City Council to consider a new AI policy (kesq.com) — Palm Desert residents have a chance to weigh in as the City Council considers a new policy tonight on how the city can use artificial intelligence, including chatbots and document-drafting tools. The proposal would classify AI systems by risk level, require extra scrutiny for higher-risk uses, and publish a public list of approved tools. The meeting starts at 4 p.m. at City Hall.
   

2. Riverside County to hold public listening sessions on Sheriff's oversight options (kesq.com) — Riverside County supervisors are bringing a public listening session on sheriff's department oversight directly to Palm Desert, inviting residents to share experiences and concerns with county leaders. The ad hoc committee is exploring new oversight models and will combine feedback from these sessions with written comments before making recommendations by January 2027, alongside upcoming changes separating the sheriff and coroner roles.
   

3. First DAC boys and girls cross-country meet of the season held at Xavier Prep (kesq.com) — Palm Desert sports fans saw a standout performance as Palm Desert High junior Marina Avila dominated the girls race at the season's first Desert Athletic Conference cross-country meet at Xavier Prep. She not only won decisively but stayed at the finish to support fellow runners. On the boys side, La Quinta's Kaden Rivera took first, with Shadow Hills, La Quinta, and Indio leading team results.
   

4. Corazón Latino Event Celebrates Latino-Owned Businesses in Palm Desert (nbcpalmsprings.com) — Latino-owned businesses from Palm Desert and across the Coachella Valley were celebrated at the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce's Corazón Latino event, which continued into Friday evening. Attendees enjoyed mariachi, food, and networking while organizers emphasized how Latino entrepreneurs power local industries from golf courses to restaurants. Residents were encouraged to stop by, connect with business owners, and enjoy the festivities.
