Join the City of Palo Alto’s Zero-Waste Department for an engaging and practical talk on how our community is working toward a cleaner, more sustainable future—and how you can be part of it.

You’ll learn how Palo Alto is working to conserve resources through responsible production, consumption, reuse, and recovery. This talk will introduce attendees to the concept of “zero waste” as a circular system—where materials are never simply discarded, but continuously reused, repurposed, or reintegrated into production. In this model, waste is designed out entirely, and all materials are treated as valuable resources rather than disposable items.

This session will empower residents to reduce waste at home. From smarter purchasing decisions and minimizing single-use items to improving sorting habits and embracing reuse, attendees will leave with practical strategies that make a real impact.

If you’ve ever wondered how your everyday choices connect to larger climate goals—or how you can contribute to a zero-waste future—this talk is for you. Come be part of Palo Alto’s journey toward sustainability and discover how small changes at home can help drive big environmental results.
