Stanford Sophomore's Death Ruled Accidental Fentanyl Overdose
The January death of Eitan Weiner, 19, inside a Stanford fraternity house was an accidental fentanyl overdose, the county coroner found.
STANFORD, CA — The January death of Stanford University sophomore Eitan Weiner, 19, inside a campus fraternity house has been ruled an accident due to fentanyl toxicity, according to reports.
Eitan Weiner, a Stanford sophomore, died Jan. 17 inside the Theta Delta Chi house.
A graduate of Los Altos High School, Weiner's family had many ties to the university. His father, Amir, is a professor of history, his mother, Julia, is an associate vice provost, and his sister, Ya'el, graduated from Stanford last year, the Stanford Daily reported.

The cause of death was determined by the Santa Clara County coroner's office. An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about the case was asked to contact the sheriff's office at 408-808-4500, according to NBC.
Stanford warned students last month about the potential presence of fentanyl in the community. The university said it would schedule programming for drug education and increase student drug screening for those seeking help.
