Fiery Crash Jams 405 Morning Commute

A SigAlert was issued and only two lanes of the southbound side of the freeway remained open through the morning rush hour.

At least one person was transported to a hospital for treatment of major injuries this morning after a crash on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Carson, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash in the southbound lanes of the San Diego Freeway north of Alameda Street was reported at 4:03 a.m., said CHP Officer Alex Rubio.

The CHP issued a SigAlert closing all but the HOV and fast lane for its investigation, which continued into the morning. It ordered vehicles impounded as evidence, Rubio said. That is a precaution in a major injury accident in case an injured victim dies.
