• To avoid raising taxes on local residents, 7 L.A. County cities are pushing new measures to make tourists and Airbnb guests fund 911 and fire services (secretlosangeles.com) — Rancho Palos Verdes voters are being asked to raise the city's lodging tax from 10% to 13%, with revenue earmarked for landslide repairs, sinkhole prevention, and wildfire preparedness. The proposal is part of a broader push by seven L.A. County cities to have tourists and short‑term rental guests, rather than residents, shoulder more of the cost of 911 and fire services.
