📰 News we're reading

• State Bill to Rein In License Plate Cameras Dies Without an Assembly Vote (pasadenanow.com) — Pasadena's 61-camera license plate reader network will keep operating under current rules after a state bill to tighten ALPR regulations died without an Assembly vote. With the City Council's Public Safety Committee split and the contract up soon, local officials and residents now must decide whether to keep, replace, or dismantle the camera system.

• Regents at UCLA: Sept. 14-16, 2026 (blogspot.com) — UC Regents will meet at UCLA Sept. 14–16, and one closed-session update involves litigation between the City of Pasadena and the Regents over Rose Bowl issues. While most of the agenda concerns UC-wide budgets, health care and labs, Pasadena residents may be interested that their city's dispute is still active, with proceedings currently informally stayed.
