Buckle Up for Safety! Sea Lion Pup Gets a Ride Back to the Ocean

Sheriff's deputies picked up a hitchhiker and took him home--to the surf.

Mendocino County Sheriff’s deputies spotted a small animal moving slowly down a road and stopped to help. Turns out, it was a wayward sea lion pup.

They were concerned it would be hit by a passing car in the dark, especially with dense fog in the area, so they gave it a lift.

According to MCSO, “The sea lion pup had an orange tag attached to its front flipper and was extremely friendly with the deputies, rubbing against their legs for attention.” The Marine Mammal Center confirmed that the pup had been released from the center following rehabilitation so it was used to humans.
