Coroner IDs Area Teen Killed While Skateboarding
The Santa Rosa H.S student, 15, "shared smiles and stories" with everyone, according to family and friends on a fundraising site. [Breaking]

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – The Sonoma County Coroner's Office has identified the teen struck by a car and killed while skateboarding on Friday as Eduardo Avila, 15, of Santa Rosa.
The teen, who attended Santa Rosa High School, was on a skateboard on Fulton Road near River Road when he veered onto the roadway into the path of a northbound GMC Yukon around 9:15 p.m., California Highway Patrol officials said. He died at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, according to the CHP.
A fundraising effort to help his family with funeral expenses is underway on GoFundMe.

"Eduardo Gabriel Avila Escalona, was taken from us on August 12, 2016 and it is with a heavy heart that we share this news with our family, friends, and those whom he ever met," the website reads. "A student at Santa Rosa High School, he shared smiles and stories with anyone who he ran into and thereby created new friendships."
"Due to the hardships of the upcoming costs related with putting him to rest, we reach out to our community for support. If you can support us, even a dollar helps. The family thanks you for your prayers and financial support," says the fundraising page, which can be found here.

"Eduardo was a very sweet and special boy," wrote one donor.
To date, $4,285 has been raised toward the $15,000 goal.
