Early-Morning Fire Contained To Garage Of Petaluma Home
Breaking: The Petaluma Fire Department, Cal Fire and the Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District all responded to the blaze early Tuesday.

PETALUMA, CA -- Wood finishing materials in a recycling bin are suspected of causing a garage fire in Petaluma early Tuesday morning, a fire battalion chief said.
A paint brush and paper towels ignited in the bin against a wall of the attached garage at a residence at 469 Albert Way around 5:30 a.m., Petaluma Fire Battalion Chief Jeff Holden said.
Firefighters found people spraying water on the garage when they arrived. The flames spread to the garage's attic but were quickly extinguished, Holden said.

A mother, father, infant son and two cats will be able to remain in the residence because the estimated $10,000 fire damage was confined to the garage, according to Holden.
Smoke detectors in the residence were not operating at the time, and the father said replacing them was on his to-do list, Holden said.
