Petalumans on the south side of town will get a chance to get back into shape with two fitness options, as SPD Factory moves to Petaluma Boulevard and Anytime Fitness readies its move to Lakeville Street, taking over the long vacant space next to .
SPD Factory, which opened in 2007, recently moved from its location near Lucky's into the old Bare Woods furniture store on the corner of K Street and Petaluma Boulevard South. And it's taking a different approach when it comes to exercise and weight training.
“We take the thinking out of working out, and we do it for you,” said SPD CEO Jessica Elsey.

The approach is a group training style, similar to exercise classes, that start at 5:30 a.m. and continue unitl 7 p.m. Three programs—Jump Start for beginners, Fit for adults and Sport for training athletes—focus less on simple weightlifting or cardio alone, and more on giving gym patrons a more robust workout.
And on the other side of town, Anytime Fitness will be opening this September in the Azure at Lakeville Square. The club will cater to those with a more traditional approach to gyms, with one twist.

“We create a club culture atmosphere,” said owner Steve Kelling.
Members will be given a key that allows access to any of the company’s over 60 clubs in California and 1600 in the world. With key in hand, a member has access to the club 24 hours a day, even when no staff is present. It's perfect for the night-owl exerciser. A full range of classes, from yoga to Zumba and more, will also be available.
