Impaired Driving Possibly To Blame In Morning Crash
Petaluma woman arrested for suspected DUI shortly after appearing in Sonoma County court for a previous DUI, police said.

PETALUMA, CA – A Petaluma woman, shortly after leaving court for a prior DUI case, was arrested Tuesday morning for alleged impaired driving after reportedly rear-ending a car at an intersection then hitting the vehicle again while attempting to pull over and park, according to authorities said.
Officers were called at 10:35 a.m. to Old Redwood Highway and North McDowell Boulevard for a collision involving one vehicle rear-ending another at an intersection, the Petaluma Police Department said, adding that both parties agreed to move to a nearby parking lot and where one driver, later identified as Jamie Ann Salkeld, 55, reportedly struck the same vehicle again while attempting to park.
"While speaking with Salkeld, officers learned she had taken prescription medication," the department said. "Salkeld was put through a series of field-sobriety tests in which she demonstrated impairment."

Salkeld was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, was taken to Petaluma Valley Hospital for a blood test and then transported and booked into the Sonoma County Jail, police said.
"It was later discovered Salkeld had appeared in Sonoma County court earlier in the day," the agency said. "The appearance stemmed from a DUI arrest which occurred on Nov. 21, 2017. In that case, Salkeld collided with a vehicle in Cotati. Salkeld failed to stop and was followed by a witness until she was contacted and ultimately arrested by the Petaluma Police Department."
