Man Reports Early-Morning, Armed Hold-Up At Petaluma ATM

Images of the two suspects initially were difficult to obtain from the bank's surveillance video, police said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – A man reported being held up with a gun to his head at a Petaluma ATM machine earlier this month, and police are asking for the public's help in possibly identifying suspects involved.

The man told the Petaluma Police Department that on Aug. 11 at approximately 5:27 am, he was withdrawing cash from a Wells Fargo ATM machine in the Washington Square Shopping Center when he was approached from behind by two men.

"The victim said one of the males held a gun to the right side of his head and demanded his money," the department said. "After the suspects took his money, they fled on foot."

The two males were described as possibly Hispanic or white, in their 20s, and wearing dark clothing with their faces partly concealed, police said. It is unknown where they went or if they had a vehicle in the area.

The Petaluma Police Department said it initially was informed nothing "unusual" appeared on the ATM video, however, further examination of the video by the bank seemed to corroborate the victim’s account, police said. Two images from the video were released today by the Petaluma PD.
