A 13-year-old Petaluma boy who was last seen leaving a medical appointment in Santa Rosa on Monday afternoon remains missing this morning, a Petaluma police sergeant said.
Lucas Coleman, a foster child, has run away before, but police are particularly concerned for his safety this time because of his age and the cold weather and predicted rain this week, Sgt. Ed Crosby said.
"We don't know where his friends are," Crosby said.
The teen recently stated he wanted to run away to Guerneville to live among the homeless. Coleman has a phone but is not responding to calls, Crosby said.
The teen has a relative in Fort Ross, but police do not believe he is headed there, Crosby said.
Police have received about five tips from people who reported seeing him in various Bay Area locations including Cotati, Sebastopol and Pacifica, Crosby said.
Coleman is white, 5 feet 9 inches, 170 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, a brown hoodie with a green logo, "May the forest be with you," baggy black Levi's jeans and black Vans shoes.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Petaluma police at (707) 778-4372.
