Petaluma Man Hits Pedestrian, Arrested For Suspected DUI
The 85-year-old victim suffered major injuries.

A man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of felony DUI after he allegedly struck and injured a pedestrian in Petaluma.
Police said William Atkinson, 48, of Petaluma, was driving intoxicated when he struck an 85-year-old pedestrian in a crosswalk at the intersection of East Washington Street and Petaluma Boulevard North. Officers responded at 5:16 p.m. to the intersection after receiving a report of pedestrian injured in a collision.
The victim was walking southbound on Petaluma Boulevard North in the crosswalk when Atkinson drove around a stopped vehicle to make a left turn onto Washington Street and struck the pedestrian, police said.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with major injuries and was listed in stable condition late Thursday night.
