Man Found In 2015 Floating In Mare Island Waters Still Unidentified
Solano Co. Sheriff hopes public can help with ID after new details released from forensic anthropological analysis.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- The Solano County Coroner’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying a man, whose body was found floating in the waters of the Mare Island Straits on May 5, 2015.
Efforts to identify him through traditional forensics during the past year have not led to a positive identification, authorities said. An autopsy was conducted, but due to advanced decomposition of the body, the cause of death remains undetermined.
The skeletal remains were sent to the California Department of Justice and to the California State
University-Chico Anthropology Department, the office said.

CSU-Chico conducted a forensic anthropological analysis. The remains were carefully cleaned, inspected and reconstructed, and the anthropological findings suggest the remains belong to a Hispanic man, 30 to 55 years old and between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall, according to authorities.
He may have been active in sports during childhood, as evidenced by the presence of Osgood Schlatter’s Disease, an overgrowth of bone on his tibia, detectives said.

Investigators believe the unidentified man most likely lived "a semi-vagrant lifestyle" near the Bay Area
waterways. They added that he was wearing size 13 black “Catapult” athletic shoes that were worn down to their soles and a pair of size 34/32 brown corduroy pants.
The department is anxious to identify this man and asks that readers share the sketches with the community.
Anyone who recognizes him or has information regarding this case is asked to call Coroner’s Investigator, Deputy Tenzin Dorji at 707-784-7500 (case #2015-0452).
