Sonoma County Teen Murder Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

SANTA ROSA, CA -- An 18-year-old man pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Sonoma County Superior Court to the murder of a Sebastopol man he allegedly killed during a fight in April.

Anthony William Ibach is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 12 for the stabbing death of Cory Alan Vaughn, 19, in a Bodega Avenue parking lot in Sebastopol on April 21.

Two Santa Rosa men, Joshua Cassidy, 21, and Shyzaha Thorpe, 20, were held to answer after a preliminary hearing Tuesday to a felony charge of being an accessory to the murder.

They allegedly drove Ibach in Thorpe's car to a friend's house in San Rafael after the slaying and moved Ibach's BMW on Yuba Drive in Santa Rosa.

Cassidy posted bail and is out of custody, and Thorpe is being held in Sonoma County Jail under no bail. Both men are scheduled to enter pleas to the accessory charge on June 6.

Sonoma County sheriff's officials said Ibach and Vaughn had issues with each other that culminated in a fight outside a house party in Sebastopol. Vaughn was slashed and mortally wounded in the chest with a
cutting instrument and died at the scene.
