3 Men Charged for Fatal Shooting at Oakland Gas Station on New Year's Day

Three men have been charged with murder with special circumstances for the fatal shooting of a Sacramento man at an East Oakland gas station on New Year’s Day, police said today. Derrick Williams, 23, was slain in the shooting at the Valero gas station at 7225 Bancroft Ave. at 1:38 p.m. on Jan. 1.
Officers who responded to the shooting found Williams suffering from a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Oakland police identified the suspects as Andre Poole, 24, of Sacramento, Marcus Mayfield, 19, of Oakland, and Dwight Hilton, 26, of Pittsburg.

Police said the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has charged the three men with murder and the special circumstance of committing a murder during a robbery. Poole, Mayfield and Hilton have been arraigned and are being held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin without bail.
