Teen Shot, Killed Friday in East Oakland Identified

A woman who was fatally shot in East Oakland on Friday night was identified by police today as a 19-year-old Oakland resident. Police said officers who responded to reports of a shooting in the 1600 block of 89th Avenue at about 10:25 p.m. Friday found Leslie Garcia suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Paramedics took Garcia to a hospital but she was pronounced dead there shortly afterward, according to police. No information has been released by police about a possible motive or suspects in the fatal shooting.
Oakland police said their investigation into the shooting is ongoing and anyone with information about it should call their homicide section at (510) 238-3821 or their tip line at (510) 238-7950.
