Pinole Man Involved In Deadly Crash In Santa Clara County
The Pinole driver ended up going northbound in the southbound lanes of a busy highway.

LOS GATOS - A San Jose woman was killed in a multi-vehicle collision Monday evening in unincorporated Santa Clara County just south of Los Gatos, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At 6:07 p.m., 44-year-old Armond Cobb of Pinole was driving a 2016 Ford F-550 north on state Highway 17 just south of The Cat's restaurant near Los Gatos when he struck the center concrete wall, CHP officials said.
The impact caused Cobb to lose control of the vehicle and veer to the right, then back to the left, crossing over the center median into oncoming traffic. Cobb's vehicle struck a 2008 Toyota Tacoma traveling south that was driven by 63-year-old Gary Mott of Aptos, CHP officials said.

Cobb continued north in the southbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2007 Toyota Camry driven by 25-year-old Makeena Ricekerr of Santa Cruz.
Cobb continued north and struck a 2014 Kia sedan with two occupants, a 19-year-old female driver and 19-year-old Franklin Singer, both from San Jose. The collision caused the roof of the sedan to tear open, causing the driver to be ejected from the vehicle and onto the roadway, CHP officials said.

Cobb's vehicle rolled over onto its roof and came to rest on the highway's southbound shoulder.
The driver of the Kia died of her injuries at the scene, CHP officials said. Her name has not yet been released.
Cobb, Ricekerr and Singer were taken to hospitals for treatment of minor injuries and were later released. Mott also suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized, CHP officials said.
The southbound lanes of Highway 17 were closed for about five hours following the collision.
The investigation into this collision is ongoing and drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors, CHP officials said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the CHP San Jose office at (408) 467-5400.
