3 Arrested Following Car Chase, Foot Pursuit, Pleasanton Police Say

BREAKING: A citizen called police to report the suspects, who were allegedly trying to burglarize cars in the Club Sport parking lot.

PLEASANTON, CA — Three men suspected of burglarizing cars in the Pleasanton Club Sport parking lot were arrested Sunday morning after they led officers on pursuit in a stolen car, police officials said. A resident called police at about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday to report three men in a white 2003 Toyota 4-Runner who were allegedly trying to burglarize cars at 7090 Johnson Dr.

Officers who responded to the call, saw a car matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop. Police said the 4-Runner, which was stolen from Hayward, gave chase, and tried to flee the area on eastbound I-580. The car eventually stopped near the Hacienda Drive off ramp.

Police said one suspect, later identified as Hayward resident Richardo Velazquez, 31, exited the car from the driver’s seat and tried to flee on foot. Velazquez was injured when he jumped over a nearby wall and was arrested. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
