Callippe Preserve Golf Course Retains 'Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary' Designation

The golf course was recognized in 2006 and goes through recertification every three years to maintain designation.

From The City of Pleasanton: The city of Pleasanton is pleased to announce that the Callippe Preserve Golf Course has retained its designation as a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, a program of Audubon International.

“Being certified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary is a genuine honor since we are only one of 68 courses in California to hold this honor,” said Callippe Preserve’s General Manager, Eric Thompson.

The Callippe Preserve Golf Course was originally recognized in 2006 and undergoes a recertification process every three years to maintain this prestigious designation. In order to qualify for certification, a course must demonstrate a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas, including: environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, outreach and education, chemical use reduction and safety, water conservation and water quality management.

“We’re very proud to be recognized not only as a great place to play a round of golf, but also as a great place to get out and enjoy nature and wildlife, such as the red-tailed hawk, which can be seen here at Callippe,” concluded Eric Thompson.
