Fire Extinguished Near Vulcan Plant: LPFD
Firefighters contained a small grass fire believed to be caused by a surge to a power pole.

PLEASANTON, CA — Livermore-Pleasanton firefighters extinguished a one-acre grass fire at the Vulcan Plant property early Thursday morning, which employees say was caused by an arc from a transformer on a power pole.
The fire broke out off El Charro Road near the plant at around 5 a.m., according to LPFD Deputy Fire Chief Jason Solak. Vulcan employees believe it was caused by a surge to a power pole when the pumping station kicked in, Solak told Patch. Solak added that the pole is privately owned and maintained by Vulcan.
The fire was quickly contained, and no injuries or property damage were reported.
