Quake Strikes East Bay - But It's Not Where You Think
A quake struck Wednesday evening outside the usual Tri-Valley hotspot.
SUNOL, CA — A 2.6-magnitude earthquake struck Sunol at 5:53 p.m. Wednesday, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake was centered just south of the Callippe Preserve Trailhead and a bit west I-680, and had a depth of 11.1 kilometers, according to USGS. No injuries or damage were reported.
Residents around Pleasanton, Dublin, and Livermore reported feeling it weakly or not at all, according to USGS's "Did You Feel It?" map.

Several additional small tremors were recorded in the Tri-Valley Wednesday near San Ramon and Pleasanton ranging from 1.6 to 2.6. The smaller quakes were listed as preliminary in USGS data and may be subject to revision.
Most of the Tri-Valley's recent seismic activity in recent months has been centered near San Ramon, which has recorded more than 300 earthquakes since November, according to USGS data.
