Surveillance Video Shows Woman Suspected in Pleasanton Car Burglary

Police investigators are asking for the public’s help identifying a woman suspected of burglarizing cars in Pleasanton.
Pleasanton resident Jeniece Avalos shared video surveillance that shows a unidentified woman opening Avalos’ unlocked car door. In the video, the woman briefly sits in Avalos’ passenger seat and can be seen rummaging around the victim’s car before taking something and walking away to be picked up by a light-colored Prius.

Avalos says she is not sure what property was taken from her car by the woman, but is sharing her video in hopes of capturing the woman investigators are calling a burglary suspect.
Detective Barry Boccasile said the alleged car burglary took place in the 4400 block of Sutter Gate at about 11 p.m. on Sept. 8.

The suspect is described as a young, heavyset Caucasian female wearing light-colored clothing and her hair in a ponytail.
In 2014, the rise in car burglaries throughout Pleasanton prompted police to launch the “Hide It, Lock It, or Lose It” campaign focused on reminding those who live, work or play in Pleasanton to remove all items from a vehicle before parking in an effort to deter would-be burglars.
Investigators ask anyone with information about this case or this person’s identity to call 925-931-5100.
