Suspected Porch Package Thief Caught on Camera, Victim Says

PLEASANTON, CA — Home surveillance video shows an unidentified man as he allegedly stole a package off a porch neighborhood on west side of Pleasanton Monday afternoon, a victim said. The victim said the theft was reported to police.
Pleasanton police officials have not yet been reached for comment.
The Tri-Valley has been hit hard by package thieves over the last few months. Two Vallejo residents were arrested in January in connection with a rash of package thefts plaguing Danville. Police officials in Livermore recently asked for the public’s help identifying a man suspected of stealing a package in December from a Livermore porch.

The number of property crimes -- home burglaries, car burglaries, packages stolen from doorsteps -- in the Tri-Valley has soared over the past two years, frustrating residents and prompting police departments to urge everyone to “call early and often” if something seems amiss.
