'McDonald's' Commercial Center to be Discussed
A 7.7-acre commercial center that could bring in needed tax revenue will be discussed at tonight's Planning Commission meeting.
Loma Linda’s Planning Commission will continue discussion on a proposed 73,000 square-foot commercial center, which includes a McDonalds that has caused .
Commissioners had asked project designers to look at how the buildings were spaced on the 7.7 acres and asked them to create more accessible pedestrian walkways at its past meeting.
The plans were presented to the commission in June by developer Terra Linda Commercial LLC’s business center in the area of Barton Road and Mountain View Avenue.

The project will include 369 parking spaces, and the associated landscaping and lighting facilities.
City officials say they have long worked to bring more business into the city, but development and growth has slowed due to the struggling economy.

Several locals to oppose the proposed McDonalds because they felt the restaurant did not fit with the city’s health conscious reputation. But the center will also include much needed retail area and possibly a bank, according to plans.
The commission could not address the eatery's menu, only the land use and the architecture, said Konrad Bolowich, director of information systems for Loma Linda.
