REDONDO BEACH, CA — The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued a water advisory due to unsafe levels of bacteria in ocean waters in some Los Angeles County beaches, including Redondo Beach.

The City of Los Angeles, Environmental Monitoring Division collects samples one to five times a week from various sites year-round. On Thursday the division found the ocean water at two locations in Redondo Beach exceeded state standards for bacterial levels.

The department of public health discourages swimming in the water at the Redondo Beach Pier and at the beach at Sapphire Street because it may cause illness.
