Redondo Beach Crime Blotter: Armed Robbery And A Stolen Dingy Boat

The crime blotter covers incidents in Redondo Beach from March 17 to 23.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Redondo Beach Police Department crime blotter.

Robbery

  • March 19, 2023 - 12:13 p.m. to 5:48 p.m. - 1700 block of Hawthorne Boulevard - Two suspects attempted to take various items from an open store and leave without paying according to RBPD. One suspect allegedly threatened a loss prevention agent when confronted by the store's loss prevention agent police said. All of the items were recovered and both suspects were arrested.
  • March 17, 2023 - 6:05 p.m. to 6:09 p.m. - 1700 block of Hawthorne Boulevard - A suspect allegedly stole two pairs of Levi's jeans and a Champion sweater were reported stolen from an open store, according to RBPD. Officers said when the suspect was confronted on his bicycle, he "threw his bike down and engaged in a fighting stance" with an employee before leaving. The suspect was described as an adult Black man that is 5 foot 5 inches to 5 foot 10 inches tall.
  • March 15, 2023 - 11:29 a.m. to 12:13 p.m. - 1600 block of Kingsdale Avenue - Two suspects attempted to take various items from an open store without paying before they were confronted by the store's loss prevention agent, RBPD said. According to police, the suspects allegedly threatened the employee before dropping the bag they put the items in. All of the items were recovered.
  • March 19, 2023 - 11:09 a.m. to 11:11 a.m. - 2700 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard - A toolbox and cash were reported stolen from an open store at gunpoint, according to RBPD. Police said that the suspect ordered a coffee and a donut at the store and pulled out a gun when he went to pay and the cash register was open. The suspect was described as a Black man of unknown age that was 5 foot 10 inches tall.

Commercial Burglary

  • March 20, 2023 - 8:08 a.m. to 10:01 a.m. - 600 block of Torrance Boulevard - Cash was reportedly stolen from a closed store after the front glass door was smashed, according to RBPD. The suspects were described as four Black men of unknown age that were between 5 foot 8 inches and 6 foot 5 inches tall.
  • March 20, 2023 - 5:40 a.m. to 5:50 a.m. - 2200 block of Artesia Boulevard - Cash and different types of cigarillo boxes were reported stolen from a closed business after the front glass door was smashed, according to RBPD. The suspects were described as four Black men of unknown age that were between 5 foot 8 inches and 6 foot 5 inches tall.
  • March 17, 2023 - 2:56 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. - 1800 block of Hawthorne Avenue - According to RBPD, two suspects used a crowbar to open a cash register and take money from the till at an open business. The suspects were described as two Hispanic men in their 30s or 40s who left in a white newer model Chevrolet Trailblazer, RBPD said.

Residential Burglary

  • March 18-19, 2023 - 2 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. - 100 block of South Francisca Avenue - A Sondors electric bicycle was reported stolen from a secure underground parking garage for an apartment complex, RBPD said.
  • March 18-19, 2023 - 5 p.m. to 8:57 p.m. - 220 block of Avenue G - According to RBPD, a suspect attempted to steal from a silver 2020 Lexus UX inside an underground parking garage for an apartment complex. Officers said the front passenger window was smashed.
  • March 18-19, 2023 - 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. - 220 block of Avenue G - Cash, multiple keys and garage door openers were reported stolen from a silver 2007 Toyota Prius that was parked in an underground parking garage of an apartment complex, RBPD said. Officers said the front passenger side window was smashed.
  • March 15, 2023 - 2:22 p.m. to 2:48 p.m. - 200 block of North Juanita Avenue - Wooden fence panels and signage were reported stolen from a home after a suspect allegedly forced the side door of the house open, RBPD said. The suspect was described as an adult white man that is 6 foot 2 inches tall and drove a white Chevrolet truck.
  • March 14-15, 2023 - 5:30 p.m., to 5:50 a.m. - 2600 block of Beland Boulevard - Multiple musical instruments including a Sonor drum set, Sonor piccolo drum, Constantinople cymbal, Zildjian cymbal, Reno snare drum as well as two camera stands and two instrument cases were reported stolen, according to RBPD. Officers said they were taken from a vehicle inside a locked garage.

Vehicle Burglary

  • March 18, 2023 - 12 a.m. to 1 p.m. - 2400 block of Rockefeller Lane - According to police, a suspect fled after attempting to force entry into a blue Hyundai Sonata.
  • March 18, 2023 - 6 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. - 500 block of North Prospect Avenue - Four social security cars, a wallet, a Jansport backpack, cash and a credit card were reported stolen from a black 2008 Honda Civic according to RBPD. The passenger side window was smashed, police said.

Taken From Vehicle

  • March 17-23, 2023 - Redondo Beach - RBPD officers said there were six instances of catalytic converters reportedly stolen from cars in various locations throughout the city during the week.

Stolen Vehicles

  • March 20, 2023 - 3:50 a.m. to 3:52 a.m. - 220 block of Artesia Boulevard - A gray 2002 GMC Yukon was reported stolen, but was later recovered by the Los Angeles Police Department the same day, according to RBPD.
  • March 17-18, 2023 - 9 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. - 2600 block of Gates Avenue - A gray 2013 Kia Optima was reported stolen but was later recovered by LAPD on March 19, according to RBPD.
  • March 17, 2023 - 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. - 1800 block of Hawthorne Boulevard - A blue 2020 Hyundai Tucson was reported stolen but was later recovered by the Long Beach Police Department the same day, according to RBPD.
  • March 17, 2023 - 12:26 p.m. to 3:35 p.m. - 100 block of North Harbor Drive - A 10-foot dingy boat was reported stolen, but RBPD recovered the boat and arrested a man later that same day, officials said.
