Redondo Beach Crime Blotter: Failed Grand Theft U-Haul, Armed Robbery
The crime blotter covers incidents in Redondo Beach from March 31 to April 6.
REDONDO BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Redondo Beach Police Department crime blotter.
Robbery
- April 3, 2023 - 12:10 p.m. to 12:14 p.m. - 1800 block of Hawthorne Boulevard - A man was arrested after RBPD officers said he took items from a store without paying. Police officials said the store's loss prevention agents confronted the man who returned two of the items to the agents. One agent reached to grab more of the items from the man, but officers said the suspect punched and kicked the agent before leaving on a bike. The items were returned RBPD said.
- March 30, 2023 - 10:05 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. - 1600 block of Kingsdale Avenue - A man was arrested after police officers said he took clothing from a store without paying for them. According to police, an employee confronted the man before he left the store and the suspect pushed them to the ground before fleeing to a transit terminal. The items were returned RBPD said.
- April 2, 2023 - 7:03 p.m. to 7:46 p.m. - 3700 block of Inglewood Avenue - A minor was arrested after a reported armed robbery at a store according to police. RBPD said the boy pointed a handgun at an employee and took cash and car keys from a handbag before fleeing in a silver 2013 Nissan Maxima. The Nissan was later recovered by police.
Residential Burglary
- April 2, 2023 - 10:45 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. - 800 block of North Irena Avenue - A Razor scooter was reported stolen from an open garage at someone's home, according to RBPD. The suspect was described as a 6-foot tall Black man in his mid 30s, RBPD said.
- April 2, 2023 - 6:52 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. - 300 block of Catalina Avenue - The RBPD arrested a man following a report of clothing stolen from somebody's home that was left unlocked. The clothes were returned following the arrest, RBPD said.
Taken From Vehicle
- March 30, 2023 - 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Esplanade and Topaz Street - A wallet, two credit cards, cash and a Samsung Galaxy 7 with a blue case were reported stolen from a gray Lexus, according to RBPD. No information about the suspect was provided.
- March 31- April 6, 2023 - Redondo Beach - RBPD officers said there were seven instances of catalytic converters reportedly stolen from cars in various locations throughout the city during the week.
Stolen Vehicles
- April 2, 2023 - 7:03 p.m. to 7:46 p.m. - 3700 block of Inglewood Avenue - A silver 2013 Nissan Maxima was reported stolen, but was later recovered by the Redondo Beach Police Department on April 3, according to RBPD.
- March 29 - April 2, 2023 - 7:49 p.m. to 12 p.m. - 600 block of South Prospect Avenue - A gray 2014 BMW 328i was reported stolen according to RBPD. The car's license plate is 8EPT935 and the suspect was described as an adult Asian woman.
- March 29-30, 2023 - 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. - Harkness Lane and Beryl Street - According to RBPD, someone attempted to steal a U-Haul truck, but was unsuccessful. Police found evidence of a damaged lock and ignition that indicated somebody attempted to take the truck.
