Redondo Beach Police Reopen Pier Following SWAT Investigation

Redondo Beach Police and LASD bomb technicians were investigating a suspicious package Sunday afternoon near the pier.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Redondo Beach police reopened the pier Sunday afternoon following a SWAT investigation over a suspicious device.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department bomb technicians arrived at 100 W. Torrance Blvd, Torrance Circle, Redondo Beach to investigate a suspicious item located near the stairs leading to the pier entrance.

The suspicious device was rendered safe about 2:45 p.m., police said.

"The earlier reported suspicious device at Torrance Circle, by Redondo Beach Pier, has been rendered safe. Torrance Blvd and the Bike Path have been re-opened," police said in a news alert.
