Patch readers told us on Facebook where to go and cool off with a cone of ice cream around Redondo Beach.

REDONDO BEACH, CA - July temperatures have been brutal in many regions across the country, with heat indexes over 100 degrees and heat advisories issued in many states.

Forecasters are warning residents across the country to be vigilant and make sure not to spend too much time outdoors when temperatures are high.

"Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside," according to a weather service statement. "When possible, reschedule strenuous activities for early in the morning or in the evening."

Other recommendations from forecasters include wearing loose clothing and drinking plenty of water.
Energy companies are also offering their advice to residents who are plagued by the hot weather. To cut down on costs, it's best to run appliances in the morning and close the blinds to stop the sunlight from heating up a room. Keep the vents closed and doors shut in rooms that are not occupied.

Finally, Patch recommends you cool down and relax with a frozen treat. We know the heat can get the best of us, so we asked our readers on Facebook where they go in Redondo Beach to grab some ice cream and cool off. Here's what your neighbors told us:
