1 Killed In Likely DUI Crash On Highway 101 In Redwood City

A female passenger was killed early Sunday when a car driven by an 18-year-old female veered off the highway, according to reports.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A female passenger was killed early Sunday when a car driven by an 18-year-old female veered off Highway 101 and onto an embankment, KRON4 reported.

Around 3:20 a.m., authorities responded to a reported overturned vehicle near Veterans Boulevard in Redwood City. The car apparently went off the highway and up the embankment, then went airborne and hit a light pole, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The condition of the driver, who is from San Jose, is unknown. The passenger, whose identity hasn't been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation, but authorities believe alcohol was a factor, KRON4 reported.
