Accused RWC Rapist Has 'Violent Tendencies Towards Women': Police

Sheriff's officials believe there may be more victims of the alleged rapist and want the public to see his photo.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — San Mateo County sheriff's officials on Thursday announced the arrest of an accused rapist from the unincorporated county area near Redwood City. The man, they say, was arrested for the rape of one woman inside his apartment, but more victims may be out there.

Juan Ramirez Ruiz, 35, was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Redwood City jail on suspicion of forcible rape and forcible oral copulation, jail records show. His bail was set at $100,000.

Ruiz's arrest comes approximately one year after the alleged April 2017 incident occurred at his apartment, according to authorities. It wasn't immediately clear when the victim first reported the alleged attack.
