Amazing Aerial Footage Shows New Peninsula Fire Station Under Construction
"We continue to find new ways to use this incredible technology," Fire Chief Schapelhouman says of the drone used to capture the video.
MENLO PARK, CA — Menlo Park Firefighters took to the air again with their expanding Drone Program showing its value yet again in providing aerial pictures and video of the construction of the Districts new Downtown Fire Station on Oak Grove Avenue.
The aerial photography taken by Captain Tony Eggimann provides a unique view of the new Stations concrete footings being poured in place that will provide an anchor for the buildings walls.
In recent months, Captain Eggimann has flown the Districts Drone for Search, Rescue and Recovery missions in the Bay, inspected bridge damage during a rain storm at the San Francisquito Creek and Highway 101 and in Sacramento where the Swift Water Rescue Team was deployed into the Central Valley because of excessive rainfall that threatened levees and the Oroville Dam, due to potential flooding.

Fire Chief Schapelhouman said “we now have four different Drone platforms and six pilots who can operate them. We just applied to the FAA for an expanded authorization to fly at night and over crowds. We continue to find new ways to use this incredible technology."
The Fire Station is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year! Please see the attached YouTube video and photograph.
