Boy, 15, Busted With iPad Stolen From East PA School: Police

The Clarke Avenue elementary school was burglarized June 6, and iPads and computers were stolen.

EAST PALO ALTO, CA -- Officers arrested a teen Monday after they found him with an iPad that was taken during a burglary at an East Palo Alto elementary school last week.

On June 6, officers responded to Edison-Brentwood Elementary School at 2086 Clarke Ave., after school staff had arrived that morning and discovered that several classrooms had been burglarized and vandalized, according to police.

Several iPads and laptop computers had been taken from classrooms during the burglary. Additionally, several classrooms were also vandalized, police said.

On Monday, officers on routine patrol contacted a group of juveniles near 1771 E. Bayshore Road. During the encounter, officers found a 15-year-old boy to be in possession of an iPad belonging to the school, according to police.

Officers arrested the teen on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property and booked him into the San Mateo County Youth Facility, police said.

After the arrest, officers, once again, searched the school's campus for additional evidence. There, in an inaccessible area of the school, officers found three more laptop computers and two mini iPads hidden. 

Officers then returned all of the stolen electronic items back to the school, according to police.
