Congresswoman to Talk 'Bridging the Gap' Between Private Sector, Government Technology

The upcoming event is planned for Nov. 28 in Redwood City.

SAN MATEO, CA - Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-San Francisco/San Mateo counties) will hold a networking event for technology and biotechnology companies interested in working with the Defense Department (DoD) and the Intelligence Community on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. at the Oracle Conference Center in Redwood City.

“Bridging the gap between private sector technology and national security benefits our entire country,” Rep. Speier said. “It offers tremendous opportunities for innovators at small businesses to contribute to the safety of all Americans, and it can help turn the best ideas into reality. This year alone, the DoD is expected to award approximately $65 million in contracts.”

Rep. Speier’s event will feature Sean Singleton from the Defense Innovative Unit Experimental (DIUx), a new unit within DoD that serves as a bridge between the U.S. military and innovative companies; and Steve Bowsher of In-Q-Tel, an independent, not-for-profit strategic investment firm with a mission to develop technology solutions for the intelligence community.
