BREAKING: The man was riding a motorcycle, without a helmet, northbound on the 101 when he crashed, the CHP said.

PALO ALTO, CA – A man who was killed in a crash on Highway 101 over the weekend has been identified as a Peninsula resident. According to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner's Office, 47-year-old Anthony McMahon died after being thrown from his motorcycle on the freeway on Saturday night. McMahon lived in Daly City.

The crash was reported around 8:40 p.m. on the northbound side of the highway, just north of Embarcadero Road. McMahon, who was not wearing a helmet, was driving between the two left lanes of traffic and hit the left side of a silver 2014 Dodge Ram truck driven by a 40-year-old Burlingame woman with two passengers inside, according to CHP Officer Art Montiel. Upon impact, the Daly City man was thrown off the bike, suffering fatal injuries.

Investigators believe he was possibly driving under the influence but are still waiting for the results of toxicology reports, according to Montiel.
