East Palo Alto Teens Caught Red-Handed Burglarizing Home, Police Say

Police say they saw the teens inside the home through an open window.

MENLO PARK, CA – Police arrested two teen boys this week after allegedly finding them inside a home they were burglarizing, the Menlo Park Police Department announced. The boys, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, are both from East Palo Alto.

A neighbor of a home in the 1000 block of Ringwood Avenue called police around 10:21 a.m. Wednesday after seeing the boys allegedly enter the backyard through a gate, according to police.

"Menlo Park Police officers arrived at the residence and observed an open gate leading to the home," polie said in a news release. "Once through the gate, they saw the two juveniles inside the house through a window."

The officers entered the home and arrested them both without incident on suspicion of burglary, police said.

"Both suspects were detained without incident and found to have stolen property in their possession from the residence," police said. "No one was home during the time of the incident, and all of the stolen property was recovered."

They were taken to Hillcrest Juvenile Hall in San Mateo.
