Update: Dog, Pet Rabbit Killed in Duplex Fire
The fire was near Red Morton Community Park. Five people were displaced by the blaze.

Update:
Two pets perished during a blaze that damaged a duplex in Redwood City this morning, according to fire officials.
At about 9:30 a.m., the fire was reported at a duplex in the 1100 block of Sanchez Way, next to Red Morton Community Park, according to the Redwood City Fire Department. The fire prompted Redwood City police to issue an advisory shortly before 10 a.m. stating the there was a road closure on Sanchez Way between Roosevelt and Oak avenues.

The blaze was under control at 10:23 a.m. and the roads were reopened shortly thereafter, according to fire officials.
The exact extent of damage to the duplex was not provided, but fire officials said it no longer habitable.

Five displaced residents were offered assistance by the American Red Cross. Though no injuries were reported, fire officials said two pets, a rabbit and a dog, died during the fire.
Two other pets were saved.
At about 2 p.m., investigators were still at the scene to examine a potential cause of the fire.

At around 9:30 a.m., the fire was reported at a residence in the 1100 block of Sanchez Way, next to Red Morton Community Park, according to a Redwood City Fire Department dispatcher.
Redwood City police shortly before 10 a.m. advised drivers to avoid the area because of a road closure on Sanchez Way between Roosevelt and Oak avenues. Police said the fire has caused no reported injuries this morning. No further details were immediately available.
