Home Invasion Robber Sexually Assaults Peninsula Man: Police
BREAKING: Police say the robber held the victim at knifepoint.

MENLO PARK, CA — A San Jose man remains hospitalized after jumping an estimated 30 feet off of a pedestrian overcrossing in Menlo Park as he was fleeing from police, according to police and jail booking records. The man, 36-year-old Lamar Dekari Stevens, was running from authorities on Friday morning after allegedly breaking into a Menlo Park home, sexually assaulting a resident and then robbing the man.
According to Menlo Park police, around 4:50 a.m. Friday, Stevens broke into the home on the 1000 block of Ringwood Avenue. Once inside, he allegedly held a man at knifepoint and attacked him.
"The victim stated that the suspect had sexually assaulted him and then robbed him," police said in a news release. "The victim was able to escape his home and called police from a neighbor’s home."

Police said the victim, a 60-year-old, suffered minor injuries .Responding officers spotted a suspect on a nearby pedestrian overcrossing and blocked both ends, according to police.
But the suspect, later identified as Stevens, climbed the fence of the overcrossing and officers then released a K-9 to capture him. Police said Stevens, 36, jumped from the fence onto Van Buren Road, a fall of about 30 feet, which left him unable to move. Officers then detained Stevens.

"The suspect sustained incapacitating injuries due to the fall and was taken into custody without further incident," police said. "Emergency medical services were summoned to the scene to provide aid to the suspect, who was transported to Stanford Hospital due to his injuries. Once identified, it was found that the suspect is on active State Parole for robbery."
Stevens has been arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, oral copulation by use of force, burglary, home robbery and assault with the intent to commit sexual assault, according to police.
Stevens was to remain at Stanford Hospital until he can be moved to the county jail, police said. Police said that officials with the California Department of Corrections have also placed a parole hold on him.
As of Monday afternoon, jail booking records indicated that Lamar had not yet been received.
