Man Found Dead at Peninsula Crash Site: CHP
CHP officials say the man crashed off a Peninsula highway connector ramp and onto a dirt field below. [BREAKING]

SAN MATEO, CA — A 49-year-old Peninsula man was found dead at the scene of a San Mateo crash over the weekend, but authorities aren't yet sure how long he had been there, officials said Sunday.
According to CHP Officer Art Montiel, the crash was discovered Saturday around noon in the 1900 block of South Norfolk Street, just near the westbound state Highway 92 connector ramp to northbound U.S. Highway 101.
CHP officers think that sometime after 10 p.m. Friday, the man — identified only as a Pacifica resident — was driving a 2000 Mercedes on the elevated connector ramp when he lost control of the car and collided with the concrete barrier on the east side of the roadway.

"The force of the collision caused the Mercedes to travel over the concrete barrier and fall onto the dirt field from the connector ramp," Montiel said in a news release. "The Mercedes came to rest in a dirt field located under the interchange of eastbound SR-92 to northbound US-101 within the city limits of the city of San Mateo."
The crash is under investigation and it's not known if drugs or alcohol were possible factors, Montiel said.
