NEWS FLASH - Redwood City Removes Perfectly Good Affordable Floating Home!

Redwood City continues it's aggressive push to remove affordable housing.

This morning, Docktown awoke to the view of one of the better affordable floating homes, being removed under police protection from the marina. According to the contractor hired to do the job, the City owns the floating home and was concerned about the security of the operation to remove the floating home and so they requested police protection. Early on two police officers and their two cars were seen; but by the time, I was able to get to the site only Officer P. Change (Badge 351) was there. When I asked him as to why he was there he said he was just doing his job. When I asked him if his job included watching the removal of a floating home he answered that he was not allowed to speak to the press.

According to the contractor there are another two or three homes also slated for removal although not today. When asked about what was the plan for the floating home they were in the process of removing he said it depended on the quality. However when others were asked they seemed to think that the floating home was being towed to a dumpster.

Is this how Redwood City treats affordable homes? Removing them and potentially sending them to the dumpster?
