Peninsula Traffic Stop Leads to Chase, Hit-and-Run Crash: Police

An East Palo Alto man was ultimately arrested following the incident, police said.

Menlo Park, CA – An East Palo Alto man was arrested this week on suspicion of failing to yield to a traffic stop before colliding with another motorist and allegedly fleeing the scene on foot, police said.

Around 12 p.m. Monday an officer attempted to stop Kini Evaimalo, 36, but Evaimalo kept driving and continued through an intersection in the vicinity of Hamilton Avenue and Willow Road, where the crash occurred.

After Evaimalo allegedly struck another vehicle, he fled the scene on foot but was apprehended by narcotics detectives, police said.

Evaimalo was transported to a hospital for minor injuries then booked into jail on suspicion of felony hit and run, felony evasion, possession and driving on a suspended license.

The other driver involved in the crash suffered minor injuries.

The officer who attempted to stop Evaimalo also suffered minor injuries in a different crash.
