Police Identify Man Killed Crossing El Camino Real
A pedestrian struck and killed Monday evening crossing El Camino Real was identified Thursday by the San Mateo County coroner's office.

BELMONT, CA - A pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle Monday evening in Belmont was identified Thursday by the San Mateo County coroner's office as 74-year-old transient Lamar Davis.
The driver of the vehicle said Davis crossed in front of his 1996 Honda Civic at about 6 p.m. in the 500 block of El Camino Real and he could not avoid hitting him.
"The driver told investigators that he was driving his white 1996 Honda Civic with traffic, in the left southbound lane of El Camino from Davey Glen Road," Belmont Police Capt. Patrick Halleran said in a news release. "As he was going through the 500 block, a man in dark clothing suddenly crossed in front of him
toward the center island. The driver attempted to avoid the collision, but was unable to stop before striking the pedestrian."

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
The crash occurred in a dimly lit section of the road while it was raining, according to police.

Davis died at the scene.
