Missing Peninsula Man With Dementia Found Safe [UPDATE]

BREAKING: Police said the man suffered from dementia and was in need of his medications.

UPDATE: A 67-year-old Atherton man with dementia who went missing Wednesday night has been found safe in Palo Alto, an Atherton police spokesman said Thursday afternoon.

Douglas McIver was located in the 3300 block of El Camino Real in Palo Alto, according to Atherton police Cmdr. Joe Wade. He was found safe, in good condition and health. Wade said the man's family picked him up.

ATHERTON, CA -- Atherton police are asking for the public's help finding a missing resident with dementia who hasn't been seen since Wednesday afternoon. Douglas McIver, 67, "is missing and in need of his medications," according to a police alert.

McIver was last seen at noon Wednesday, according to the alert.

"He was wearing a dark colored shirt and green camouflage pants," police said. "He was riding a navy blue and red Mongoose Dolomite Mountain Bike."

Police said McIver is 6 feet 4 inches tall and 185 pounds with brown eyes, brown hair and a salt-and-pepper beard. Photos of him are attached to this news article.
