Redwood City Police Arrest 2 On Firearms Charges

A 22-year-old man and a male juvenile were arrested in separate incidents.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Police made two arrests in Redwood City on suspicion of illegal weapons possession Wednesday in separate incidents, authorities said.

Police said they found an unregistered semi-automatic .40 caliber handgun and an extended magazine capable of holding 22 .40 caliber rounds in the vehicle of a 22-year-old man during a traffic stop for an expired registration at around 4 p.m. on the 1100 block of Veterans Boulevard.

Valencia Guerra was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of possessing a concealed firearm within a vehicle and possessing an unregistered firearm.

Police arrested a male juvenile later in the on the 3200 block of Rolison Road in an unrelated incident.

Police said the suspect ran away when they attempted to make contact with a group of juveniles at around 9:45 p.m.

Discarded narcotics, a 9mm semi-automatic firearm and a magazine containing 15 rounds of live ammunition were found in the area the juvenile ran, police said.

The 15-year-old was booked into the San Mateo County Youth Services Center, police said.
