Redwood City Police K-9 Sniffs Out $120K Worth Of Meth

Two men were arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, police said.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A traffic stop had police on the right track. Then a K-9 unit helped them close the deal on a major drug bust, authorities said.

Redwood City police detectives assigned to a regional county gang task force seized 30 pounds of suspected methamphetamine worth an estimated street value of $120,000, the Redwood City Police Department said in a news release.

During a traffic enforcement stop for a vehicle code violation resulted in the area of Edison St. and Hillsdale Blvd. Friday at around 10 p.m., a narcotic certified K-9 sniffed out the drugs inside the vehicle, police said. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure.

Anthony Valdovinos, the driver of the vehicle, and Mark Ogo, a passenger, were both arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance for sale. They were transported and booked into the San Mateo County Jail, police said.
