Redwood City Shooting Probed

The victim was shot in the face according to police.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Police are asking for the public’s help in the investigation of a shooting early Thursday morning.

Police responded to the activation of a “ShotSpotter” activation — a high-tech tool that detects the sound of gunfire and reports incidents to police dispatchers in real time — shortly after 4 a.m. at the Days Inn Hotel at 2650 El Camino Real.

The victim was shot in the face according to police. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries was treated and released from a local hospital.

The victim told police that the suspect, who was unknown to him, approached him in the hotel parking lot and opened fire when the victim refused orders to empty his pockets.

The suspect was last seen running away from the scene at the rear hotel driveway towards El Camino Real.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-9, 160-pound black man who was wearing a blue shirt.
