SAN CARLOS, CA – An alert housekeeper is being credited with helping police catch two suspected burglars outside a San Carlos home.

According to the San Mateo County Sheriff's office, the housekeeper called 911 around 12:30 p.m. Thursday when they spotted a person breaking into the back door of a residence on the 100 bock of Exboure Avenue.

Sheriff's officials responded to the scene, and saw 18-year-old Noah Vergara fleeing the house "...towards a suspicious vehicle," Det. Zal Zuno said in a news release. He was ultimately caught and taken into custody.

A second suspect, identified as 19-year-old Anthony Pintarelli, was located hiding in the backseat of the vehicle and refused to exit the vehicle, deputies said.

"Deputies forced entry into the vehicle and also took him into custody," according to Zuno. "During the on scene investigation evidence taken from the residence by the suspects was also located."

Both men, who are from Redwood City, were taken to the San Mateo County jail on suspicion of residential burglary, Zuno said. Pintarelli was also arrested on suspicion of delaying or resisting a police officer and conspiracy.

"Great work by the alert housekeeper who did not hesitate to call 911," he said. "See something, say something and report all suspicious persons and activity."
