San Mateo County Gun Buyback Set For This Weekend

The anonymous event will offer up to $200 for a firearm, no questions asked. It follows two successful county buybacks last year.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Handguns, shotguns and rifles will go for $100 and assault rifles for $200 cash at the San Mateo County gun buyback, hosted by several local police departments and scheduled for this weekend.

The buyback is anonymous, accepting firearms with no questions asked, the county sheriff's department said in a news release. It will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 14, at 1000 Skyway Road in San Carlos.

The buyback is hosted by Citizens for a San Mateo County Gun Buyback, who founded the event last year, as well as the San Mateo County Sheriff, the Redwood City Police Chief and the Belmont Police Chief.
